For those of you who haven't read Another Little Piece yet, you can read my 5 star review here. Trust me when I say I think this is one of the best books of 2013. Read about her books and see her exclusive interview below:
The spine-tingling horror of Stephen King meets an eerie mystery worthy of Sara Shepard's Pretty Little Liars series in Kate Karyus Quinn's haunting debut.
On a cool autumn night, Annaliese Rose Gordon stumbled out of the woods and into a high school party. She was screaming. Drenched in blood. Then she vanished.
A year later, Annaliese is found wandering down a road hundreds of miles away. She doesn't know who she is. She doesn't know how she got there. She only knows one thing: She is not the real Annaliese Rose Gordon.
Now Annaliese is haunted by strange visions and broken memories. Memories of a reckless, desperate wish . . . a bloody razor . . . and the faces of other girls who disappeared. Piece by piece, Annaliese's fractured memories come together to reveal a violent, endless cycle that she will never escape—unless she can unlock the twisted secrets of her past.

Welcome to Gardnerville.
A place where no one gets sick. And no one ever dies.
Except...
There’s a price to pay for paradise. Every fourth year, the strange power that fuels the town exacts its payment by infecting teens with deadly urges. In a normal year in Gardnerville, teens might stop talking to their best friends. In a fourth year, they’d kill them.
Four years ago, Skylar’s sister, Piper, was locked away after leading sixteen of her classmates to a watery grave. Since then, Skylar has lived in a numb haze, struggling to forget her past and dull the pain of losing her sister. But the secrets and memories Piper left behind keep taunting Skylar—whispering that the only way to get her sister back is to stop Gardnerville’s murderous cycle once and for all.
Q1: If you were stranded on a
deserted island with one other author, who would it be and why?
I would have to choose Mindy
McGinnis, author of NOT A DROP TO DRINK. Not only did she write one of my
favorite books of this past year, but she is also my doppelganger. Or maybe I
am her doppelganger. Either way, we look alike and when we’ve done author
events together people get us confused. So yeah, not sure how that would help
on a desert island, except that I wouldn’t have to worry about forgetting what
I look like? And when we were finally rescued, we could have fun playing,
“Guess which castaway I am?”
Q2: What is the one book/author that got you into reading/writing?
Oh wow, I can’t pick just one book.
That would be like asking which one of my kids is cuter (they are both equally
adorable). So yeah, I can’t give credit to any one book, but I can praise one
specific institution – the library. The Buffalo and Erie County Public Library
System to be exact. I gorged myself on words and the library was my
all-you-can-read buffet. The freedom to try all different kinds of books and to
bring home ten to fifteen at a time, allowed me to be the kind of reader who
wasn’t afraid to break out of her comfort zone and try something new. I could really just gush about
my love of the library all day, so let me just wrap this up by saying: I <3
Libraries.
Q3: What was your inspiration for writing Another Little Piece?
Zombies. Sort of. That’s what I
thought the book was going to be about at first (for those who haven’t read it
– the book is NOT about zombies). Really, it’s about someone who doesn’t feel
like she fits in her own skin and in her own life. And this is how I often felt
as a teenager, which is probably why I spent so much time reading and losing
myself in other worlds (see above my love of libraries). So yeah, zombies and alienation were my
starting point and then I kind of just saw where that would take me.
Q4: Can you describe your upcoming novel, Dont You Forget About Me, in seven words or less?
No, I can’t.
Oh, okay. Fine. I’ll try.
Sisters. Memory. Loss. Train. Mix
tapes. Good-bye.
Q5: Have you ever based any of your characters off anyone in real life? If you have, did you tell him/her?
Oh wow, no. I think I might
(unconsciously) take bits and pieces from people I’ve met in real life, but
mostly I try to keep my characters fictional.
Q6: As a writer, how do you want people to feel after reading your book(s)?
Satisfied. That is how I feel when I
finish a book that’s taken me on a great journey and then left me off at just
the right place. It’s just this feeling of “aahhhh”. Or sometimes if it’s part
of a series it’s more of a, “Wait. WHAT??!! That’s the end!?! AAUUGGHHH!!!!”
But since ALP is a standalone (and my next novel is as well) I hope readers
have the former experience rather than the latter.
And because Kate is such a lovely person, she is giving away an ARC of (Don't You) Forget About Me and a SIGNED copy of Another Little Piece!
