Synopsis:
Caeleah Turner is stuck-with no
job, no editor, and no ideas. Three days before Christmas, Caeleah is offered a
spontaneous trip to a small town in Colorado that claims to hold the legendary
"Cheesecake Queen" and her magical confections. As a food writer who
would take a chance on anything, Caeleah finds herself in Chestnut, Colorado
with a mission to uncover the sugary secrets of Chestnut's finest bakers. In
her quest, Caeleah will meet the mysterious and mystical Sugar family, and a
not-so-sweet (but rather handsome) mayor that may just change Caeleah's life.
Review: The Cheesecake
Queen
was absolutely adorable. It reads like a Christmas fairytale, but instead of
nice little children, we have slightly naughty grownups ;) The cheerful holiday
air, the happily-ever-after ending, the quick pace, and the use of sugary treats
makes The Cheesecake Queen such a light and hearty read. It made me
crave cheesecake so bad, so if you read this book, I highly recommend eating
something sugary at the same time:)
The
characters bothered me a little bit, especially the Sugar sisters. I could see
where their bitter feelings came from, but I was just really annoyed with their
attitudes and air of superiority. While Caeleah wasn't too horrible, she was
kind of nosy and would sometimes slip into the stereotypical "paparazzi
mode." However, I managed to look past that and still really enjoyed this
book.
Conclusion: For all you
contemporary and holiday themed fans out there, The Cheesecake Queen is for
you! I highly recommend this book for anyone looking for a quick and easy
holiday read with just the right amount of sugar, spice, and everything nice.
