New Year, New Books Day 10 (Part 1): Bethany Neal + My Last Kiss

1) Bethany Neal
-author of My Last Kiss (June 10th, 2014)

This gif is so awkward and... unglamorous. Bethany is so much more glamorous that this *flips hair*

So Bethany wrote a blog post herself (cheers for less stress for Jayne!) and it is an incredible awesome post, complete with cool pictures too! Check it out below:

Title: My Last Kiss
Author: Bethany Neal
Shelves: Young Adult, Contemporary
Publication Date: June 10th, 2014
Publisher: Farrar, Straus, and Giroux

Summary from Goodreads: What if your last kiss was with the wrong boy?

Cassidy Haines remembers her first kiss vividly. It was on the old covered bridge the summer before her freshman year with her boyfriend of three years, Ethan Keys. But her last kiss—the one she shared with someone at her seventeenth birthday party the night she died—is a blur. Cassidy is trapped in the living world, not only mourning the loss of her human body, but left with the grim suspicion that her untimely death wasn’t a suicide as everyone assumes. She can’t remember anything from the weeks leading up to her birthday and she’s worried that she may have betrayed her boyfriend.

If Cassidy is to uncover the truth about that fateful night and make amends with the only boy she’ll ever love, she must face her past and all the decisions she made—good and bad—that led to her last kiss.

If you've visited my website you know that I refer to my writing room as the Writertorium, and my desk is the beating heart center of that illustrious space. It's a glimpse into my writer's mind...so hold on tight. It's gonna be a crazetastic journey.

Here's The Full Monty view. Scroll down for closeups and explanations for my crazy.

Sitting in front of that glowing screen every day can feel daunting at times. So, I keep a lot of inspirational quotes taped around my desk area. Some are from people who know what they're talking about...some are from me.

Some more goodies...

The Literature water bottle is from Powell's Books and one of my favs. The "Nutrition Facts" include plot, narrative, and hyperbole. (And, yes, that is a Buffy lunchbox and Edward Cullen driver's license.) The Stay Scary gravestone is kind of my writing mantra. All I need is a matching one that says Stay Swoony and I'll be set!

Finally, my writing Bibles:
Story Engineering by Larry Brooks (I seriously reread this book every time I finish a first draft. It's invaluable!) and Save the Cat by Blake Snyder

That does it, dear readers. I hope you enjoyed the ride, and make sure to check out My Last Kiss on Goodreads and B&N.
