New Year, New Books! Day 2: Sara Raasch + Natalie C. Parker

Day 2: Snow Like Ashes+
Beware the Wild

Welcome to Day 2 of New Year, New Books! So I had to double feature. Apologies if this post is a bit lengthy! I've got two amazing author ladies on my blog today, Sara Raasch and Natalie C. Parker! Sara, or as I like to call her: "The Tumblr Addict" is here on my blog today, playing 2 truths and a lie! Also, if you are not following Sara on Tumblr, you probably should be:) She's super sweet, and super fun and super FABULOUS

1) Sara Raasch (AKA: The Tumblr Addict)
-author of Snow Like Ashes (Fall 2014)

For those of you who have never played Two Truths and a Lie before, here's how it works: Sara will give you three statements. Two of them are true, one of them is a lie. The point of the game is to figure out which statement is a lie. It's as simple as that! If you have any questions, you can always just leave a comment on the bottom of this post.
Read all about Sara's upcoming book, Snow Like Ashes, and then scroll down to check out the fun game and awesome giveaway Sara has for you!

Title: Snow Like Ashes
Author: Sara Raasch
Shelves: Young Adult, Fantasy
Publication Date: Fall 2014
Publisher: Balzer + Bray

Goodreads|Facebook

Synopsis from Goodreads: Meira, a fierce chakram-wielding warrior from the Kingdom of Winter, must struggle to free her people from the tyranny of an opposing kingdom while also protecting her own destiny.

If you haven't added this book to Goodreads yet, I'm judging you. I've said in previous reviews that I LOVE books that contain elements of nature, and I ABSOLUTELY CANNOT WAIT for Snow Like Ashes!

                        About the Author:

Sara Raasch has known she was destined for bookish things since the age of five, when her friends had a lemonade stand and she tagged along to sell her hand-drawn picture books too. Not much has changed since then — her friends still cock concerned eyebrows when she attempts to draw things and her enthusiasm for the written word still drives her to extreme measures. Her debut YA fantasy, SNOW LIKE ASHES, the first in a trilogy, comes out Fall 2014 from Balzer + Bray. It does not feature her hand-drawn pictures.

Two Truths and a Lie with Sara Raasch
Sara is giving you 3 statements for three topics. Each of the three topics contains one lie! Can you figure out each of Sara's lies? If you can, you'll get extra entries into the rafflecopter giveaway! However, only CORRECT guesses will be entered, so good luck!

1) I have an unhealthy Zutara obsession.

2) If Meira could wear any article of clothing, it would be a coat.
3) When Meira was seven, she got Winter's future king in trouble by convincing him to help her paint a tent in ink.
*********************************************************************************

2) Natalie C. Parker
-author of Beware the Wild (2014)

I have no idea who this guy is. But he makes an awesome gif.

So things about Natalie's books are still very mysterious. It doesn't have a cover yet, or a release date. But that only adds to the torture of wanting to read this book. Wanting to read it sooo bad. And also, guys, as a heads up, there is no giveaway because, like I said, Natalie's book is really mysterious right now. But you really should add Beware the Wild to Goodreads right now.

Title: Beware the Wild
Author: Natalie C. Parker
Shelves: Young Adult, Fantasy
Publication Date: 2014
Publisher: HarperCollins

Summary from Goodreads: Natalie C Parker's BEWARE THE WILD, pitched as Twin Peaks meets The Village, in which a claustrophobic Louisiana town is dominated by its sinister, encroaching swamp, which swallows up a boy who is instantly forgotten by everyone except his sister, and replaced by a mysterious girl from the past who is intent on taking over his family and his life.

  • Five Random Facts
  • Natalie's Website|Goodreads author page
  • Five things BEWARE THE WILD is about: secrets, swamps, siblings, the south, and Sterling Saucier.
  • Five things BEWARE THE WILD is not about: vampires, voodoo, vixens, vengeance, and....volcanoes.
  • BEWARE THE WILD is set in a fictional small town called Sticks, Louisiana. For subtlety. And because I have a strange affinity for words beginning with 's.'
  • The word "swamp/y" is used 333 times. "Quagmire" and "bayou" are used once. Because 335 uses of "swamp" is two too many.
  • The body count in BTW is 3.
Five Random Facts About Natalie C. Parker:
  • I am composed of equal parts grits and grit.
  • I have never been transformed into a gatorgirl, but imagine it's painful.
  • Once, when I was a wee bairn, I tried to fly from the top of a three story building. I was unsuccessful.....or was I?
  • My affection for Teddy Roosevelt knows no bounds. He is my favorite crazy president.
  • My affection for jellyfish knows very sharp bounds. They should not exist. End of story.
****GRAND PRIZE GIVEAWAY***
In addition to the individual giveaways each author is hosting, I am also going to have a grand prize giveaway that will run for the entire month. This is because some authors cannot contribute a giveaway, so I figured I'd give something of mine as well.

  6. FOR SARA I'm pretty sure #1 about Zutara, #3 about SLA (she started when she was 12-13 SO I THINK it was her first. Er. Maybe) and as for Meira I'M PRETTY SURE #3 WOULD BE RIGHT. >:D

  8. It was so tough to pick the lies for Sara's feature! I kept going back and forth on what to put. Both features were fun to read, though. This is the first I've heard of Natalie's book, but it's now on my Goodreads to-read shelf!

  9. I am so, so bad at Two Truths and a Lie, I can never even guess. Though from my own publishing experience, I'm going to guess the lie for #2 is that Sara's debut is the first book she ever wrote, because how often does that happen?? Can't wait to read both books!
