New Year, New Books Day 11 (Part 1): Heather Marie + The Gateway Through Which They Came

Welcome to Day 11 of New Year, New Books! Today I'm featuring a super cool YA 2014 debut author, with a really interesting upcoming release.

2) Heather Marie
-author of The Gateway Through Which They Came (Fall 2014)

Because Heather told me she likes Harry Potter (I mean, WHO DOESN'T??)

Heather's book doesn't come out until Fall of 2014 *cries* I think that's all we need to say.

Title: The Gateway Through Which They Came
Author: Heather Marie
Shelves: Young Adult, Supernatural, Horror
Publication Date: Fall 2014
Publisher: Curiosity Quills Press

Summary from Goodreads: To seventeen-year-old Aiden Ortiz, letting the dead walk through his body to reach the other side comes with the territory. Being a Gateway isn’t an easy job, but someone’s gotta send Bleeders where they belong. Heaven. Salvation. Call it whatever you want. Dead is dead. But when his search for Koren Banks––the girl who went mysteriously missing seven months ago––leaves him with more questions than answers, he finds himself involved in something far more sinister and beyond his control.

With the threat of the Dark Priest's resurrection, and his plan to summon his demon brothers from hell, Aiden is left to discover his identity before the Dark Priest's curse infecting his blood consumes him, and before the world as he knows it succumbs to the darkness of hell on earth.

What would you rather? with Heather

"Would you rather attend Hogwarts as a muggle, or never attend Hogwarts, and still be a wizard?"

Well, you had to know that out of the list of 'Would You Rather' options, that I would go for this one. Any chance to gush over Harry Potter, I will take! So, here's the thing . . . it's kind of easy for me to answer this question, for reasons. As amazing as it would be to have the ability to say, "ACCIO COFFEE" and it actually work, would be amazeballs. But as it is, I don't think that's the most important thing to me. Having magic physically is different from experiencing magic in your heart.

Let me explain. I always thought being a superhero, or having some kind of ability to do something extraordinary, would be the best thing in the world. But since I am but a mere muggle, I love the idea of being able to visit The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida, and experiencing the beauty and wonder of walking through the gates into Hogsmeade. Any time I think about walking into the Hogwarts castle and seeing the pictures move, makes my heart do funny things in my chest and my eyes swell with joyful tears. If that's the kind of excitement I get just imagining that magic as a muggle, then to me, that is everything I need. The idea of Hogwarts is magical all by itself, and I don't have to be a wizard to experience it.

Awwww, I'm jealous that she actually got to go to the Hogwarts in Florida, but the way she answered the question awoken the Harry Potter fan in me and now I wish I could watch the movies again. "The idea of Hogwarts is magical all by itself, and I don't have to be a wizard to experience it." *happy tears*

  4. Heather is a sweetheart and I can't wait to read her book! I definitely agree with her answer, too. If it meant visiting Hogwarts, I'd definitely be fine with being a Muggle!
